Friendship 101?

Back to my blogging life at last..🤔
And all thanks to my new working life!!

Got a job after being unemployed for 2 freaking + nerve-wrecking weeks. (I really hate that insecure feeling of doing nothing and still spending money like I dun care 😂 whoops!)

Anyways, let's go back to basics...shall we?

//Friendship 101//
I mean it's not like I don't know how to make friends, I did quite well when I was young (I guess.) Just things are so much different now. Like social media is a big game changer for friendships - it's either good or bad, depends how you use it.

P/S: I'm all for social media, I like it! It's great if you know how to handle it properly - discipline & self-control is key!

2nd day of work and things are great, well at least I'm enjoying myself. And you know what's always a bonus which most people unconsciously longs for in every job...awesome + fun colleagues (Oh Thank God😭I'm so blessed) and another bonus of course is I'm working for a cause (a non-profit - click here if you're interested to know what is it🤪).

Ha! Okay back to the topic.

So friends. The biggest mistake that I've did in the past few years is I judge a person by their social media before getting to know them in person.

Like the steps looks like this::
First Impression > Check them out on social media > Real-life interaction (sadly with prejudice)

But now, for me the ideal is to..
First Impression > Real-life interaction > Social Media/IM Interaction (Yes! Still NOT 🙅🏻‍♀️ Allowed to Check Them Out On Social Media - which means I have to control myself from scrolling through their facebook - a.k.a stalking💁🏻‍♀️ Yes! Guilty! Guilty!🙋🏻‍♀️)

[interaction ≠ stalking]

So yea. I'm glad to say that I did not stalk anyone this time. Ha!
Feels great! As I get to know them IRL and to the extend of how much they are willing to tell or show me.

Permission.
I think permission is soooooo important to a great friendship. Moving each step by waiting for another person's permission of how deep you are allowed into their life. In the process "respect" is being tested.

It's great to slowly get permission of getting to know a person through interaction. Know them by how much they are willing to share with me. It's like an adventure, you don't know what you're gonna get next. It's also like reading a book, but this time it's co-writing a book call "friendship".

So yea. Life is great. Of course there will be ups & downs. But ain't that the beauty of friendships? Filled with uncertainties, vulnerabilities and insecurities. Best friends are born through battles because it shows that even in pain and bad days, both sides chose the decision to say "I still choose to be your friend, and I still want you to be mine too".

Maybe I may sound foolish, but hey..I would still rather be an idealist🙃

Oh Dear Lord, I pray for authentic friendships to still exists in this sometimes very kray kray world💃🏻

Kay Bye!
Thanks for reading till the end ❤️

Love,
Iris.W🌹
